Applesauce + Parm...as in Parmesan cheese.
Yummmmmm.
Not really.
But my child seems to think so...
How did this concoction come to be? Simple, really. Per usual, I made a nice dinner for the family. Tonight, it happened to be a pasta skillet meal. Whole wheat pasta, ground turkey, marinara, melted mozzarella. It was pretty good.
The only issue is, neither LG or Gumshoe eat pasta. Basically, I make them suffer through a pasta meal because I am really craving it. To be fair, Gumshoe will eat pasta on rare occasions (tonight was one) and I'm still working on LG. He just refuses. I don't know why I want him to learn to like pasta, but I just do. Probably because the idea of Easy Mac and a hot dog on a busy night sounds really appealing.
Anywho, he turned his nose up at the small amount of pasta I offered him and instead turned his attention toward the applesauce. But when he noticed his daddy pouring Parmesan cheese on his dinner, LG wanted the same. But not on the pasta...on the applesauce.
Who are we to stifle creative eating, right? Parm on the applesauce! And he ate it. And he loved it.
Whatever works!

"Tease a Goggy"
At least he's graduated to calling her "goggy" rather than "ga".
And the teasing part? Well, we're working on it:
"LG, it's not nice to tease the doggy. We can play with the doggy, but we don't tease the doggy."
"No! I tease a goggy!"
Oh my.
There's lots of back and forth...
Sometimes LG wins...
Sometimes the goggy wins. Which, of course, elicits a small tantrum. We need to work on not being a sore loser...
As soon as LG gets the chance, though, he takes back that rope and sprints to the nearest piece of furniture yelling "I safe! I safe!"
And when goggy gets tired of this charade, she begins to ignore LG and Gumshoe and I manage to coax her into playing just one more time. And if she could roll her eyes, she would.
Good goggy!
And then it all starts again...

Real Men Wear Pink
...Or sit in pink Barbie cars. Whatever.
This child was overdue for a trim. I had an appointment all set up for him a week ago and cancelled it after some peer pressure from Gumshoe. "Don't cut his hair. I like his hair. Don't cut his hair." Seriously, Gumshoe...it'll grow back, mkay? After another week of growing however, I couldn't take it anymore, and I'm not into the shaggy look-so to the salon we went.
LG has never done well with the hair-cutting experience, and frankly, who can blame him? Remember this first haircut debacle?
So I decided I'd spend the big bucks and try to make this as enjoyable as possible. I got him all prepped by telling him he'd get to sit in a special chair and get a special treat. He was super-excited.
But his excitement hit another level when he spotted it...the pink Barbie car.
There was no talking him out of it. The excessively girly, excessively pink Barbie car was THE ONE!
Never mind the Lightning McQueen car sitting empty right next to him...
Nope, it's only pink for this guy.
And if you know my alpha-male, NRA card carrying husband...this is just funny!
In fact, there was another pink car a couple mirrors down that he spotted and he asked to switch to that one mid-cut. Sorry son...one pink car is enough for today.
Seriously mom...stop with the pictures...
Just one more...SMILE!
He did opt to watch the movie "Cars" instead of "Tangled" during the cut, so I guess it all balances out in the end.
And for your troubles, LG...a mystery-flavored, brown Dum Dum! Mmmmmm.
After the haircut, we went to visit Gumshoe at work. Upon seeing his daddy, LG enthusiastically said
"PINK BOBBY CAW!"
That's my boy.

Lately...
Hello February.
About time to do my first post of the year, I'd say. My mind has been elsewhere lately, so my picture-taking and posting motivation has been lacking.
Here's what we've been up to lately...
Going to the train display with Aunt Ah-Ah and Unky Shawn:
And a close up of my sissy's cute boots:
Playing hide and seek:
Taking FOREVER to get out the door because of this:
Putting our favorite stuffed animals in nap time and lots of time-out:
He pretends his lions are hitting him and then promptly puts them in time-out. Then, he brings them to me so that I can have a "talk" with them. And yes, he has 3 of the same lion.
Loathing the dog when I see this:
But loving her again when I see this:
Getting over a little bit of illness with the help of his favorite movie, Toy Story:
Unraveling all the floss:
Enjoying the gorgeous flowers my sister in law sent me:
Loving having the windows open during this atypically mild winter:
Everyone is enjoying it:
Working on more updates:
Using Christmas gift cards to find fun decor for our bedroom update which is next in line! I can't wait...our bedroom is SO BAD!!
Just 2 more rooms and we'll be finished with the house...and it's only taken 13 months so far! (sarcasm)
And finally, dreaming about our new addition coming this summer:
So glad I bought Zumba the other day. It must have been a weird pregnancy impulse purchase. I'm sure I'll get right on that.
