She's Here!

Oh baby!

Anna Kathryn arrived at 7:55pm on Saturday, August 11th weighing 6lbs, 14oz and measuring 19 inches long.

She joined us one day after Daddy's 32nd birthday!
She was also kind enough to wait until the worst day of daddy's cold had passed.  And she's allowing him to keep his birthday all to himself.  Already such a considerate baby!

To say that I am in love is an understatement.

I honestly wondered how my emotions would play out.

I was so used to a boy...
I was nervous to take on the task of raising a daughter (it just seems tougher than raising a boy)...
I was simply preoccupied with taking care of my toddler that I didn't spend much time dreaming about my baby girl...
On and on the doubts mounted in my head about the kind of mommy I'm going to be to my baby girl and not only that, but to 2 children.

We had big plans for Saturday.  I wanted to let Andy sleep in while I made him a special birthday breakfast.  Then, we were going to spend the morning together at the zoo.  One last big "hurrah" before baby arrived sometime next week (I was certain).

I woke up to my little guy yelling "maaaaamaaaaa" from his bedroom and went to get him.  We went downstairs and out on the deck to let the dog out.  We like to spend time out on the deck together in the mornings.  Telling the dog to "go potty.  go potty.  go potty" over and over.  As we did our morning routine, I began to feel achy and I thought to myself, "I can't do this for another week...I'm so uncomfortable."

We went back inside and I began to prepare breakfast for Andy while Sam played with his cars.  The achy feelings weren't going away and it was becoming a little more difficult to walk around.  But I was determined to make this stinking breakfast and we were going to have a good time!  :)

Anywhoo...long story short...I was in labor and our plans for the day changed.  I labored at home until about 4pm, then we headed to the hospital and Anna was born at 7:55pm.

I'm a 10!!  And epidurals are amazing.

Excited to hold baby sissy

Pay no mind to the cobra on daddy's shirt that looks like it's about to strike our infant

It's been a little over 2 weeks now and she is a delight!  Love her!

And can I just say...check out my husband...

This is what he looked like back when our son was born almost 3 years ago:

This is what he looks like now:

Are you kidding me?  AMAZING!!  So proud of my guy and how fit he has become.  Now it's my turn!  :)
